Get your cycling gear on and pedal on down to Rond Terrace Event Village on the northern foreshore of Lake Burley Griffin on Sunday 01 March for Amy’s Big Canberra Bike Ride 2015. This wonderful community event promises to be an exciting and fun-filled day. There is five different rides available to participate in: 5kms, 20kms, 35km, 68km and 120km so it really does suit people of any ability or fitness level.

Amy’s Big Canberra Bike Ride 2015 supports the Amy Gillett Foundation which is a charity that has purely one purpose – reducing the incidence of death and injury of bike riders and their vision is for ‘Zero bike rider fatalies”.

The Amy Gillett Foundation was born out of tragedy, the death of Amy Gillett, who was hit by an out of control motorist whilst cycling with her National Team mates in Germany. Support this very worthwhile cause by registering in Amy’s Big Canberra Bike Ride 2015. Ride with your family and friends or even form a team with your work colleagues. If you are not a keen cyclist, fear not, you can still assist by donating to a participating team and being there on the day to cheer them on. The fundraising target for this years’ event is $25000 and will go directly to the Amy Gillett Foundation to continue the expansion of Cycle Safe Communities. Anna Meares, Australia’s most successful women’s track cyclist will also be participating, fresh from Paris after winning her 11th World Title in the keiren event at the UCI Track World Championships.
