Now – 1 Sep | Monet Impression Sunrise | National Gallery of Australia | 10am – 5pm
This exclusive exhibition brings together works from the impressionist master, Claude Monet and other significant artists to examine the founding of an art movement—a defining moment in art history. You’ll see Claude Monet’s pioneering painting Impression, Soleil levant (Impression, Sunrise) 1872, from which Impressionism takes its name.
1 – 31 July | Warm Trees Knitted Installation | National Arboretum | 7am – 5:30pm
Come and see the Himalayan Cedar forest trees wrapped up this winter in brightly knitted scarves with an array of knitted tulips, plus knitting and crochet sessions and bike workshops.
4 – 7 July | Trans-Tasman Sheepdog Trial | Bungendore Showground | 7:30am – 4:30pm
Come along and watch 200 dogs and 48 handlers competing in this heritage sport. Make sure to rug up and bring your whole family for an enjoyable experience plus free entry!
5 – 21 July | Wintervention | Civic Square | 10am – 8pm
Embrace the cold and enjoy Canberra’s only open-air ice skating rink with scheduled performances from ‘Stars on Ice’ on Fridays and weekends. Hot drinks and snacks will be available day and night.
5 – 7 July | Wintervention Markets | Civic Square | 10am – 8pm
The Food and Makers’ market will be running during the opening weekend of the Wintervention plus life-size snow globe, live entertainment and much more.
6 – 28 July | DinotraX: A Dinosaur Adventure | National Botanic Gardens | 10am – 5pm
Step back in time and go on a dinosaur adventure trail and have the opportunity to encounter dinosaurs and fossils with family and friends.
7 July | Christmas in July – Winter Dream | Queanbeyan Showground | 10am – 4pm
For all things merry and bright head to Queanbeyan for 150 unique market stalls filled with Christmas-inspired food, treats, gifts, beer and mulled wine. There will also be an artificial snow area, obstacle courses, games, gingerbread house competition and Santa Paws (pets are welcome).
7 – 12 July | 2019 Kanga Cup | Various Canberra Football Ovals | 8:30am – 5pm
Fun, Football and Family at the largest youth tournament in the Southern Hemisphere for U9-18
9 – 28 July | Kinky Boots | Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre | 2pm & 8pm
If you love the Kinky Boots movie or are a fan of musicals, then you must check out the show with Tony award winning score by Cyndi Lauper! Kinky Boots will have you dancing in the aisle and discovering why, sometimes, the best way to fit in… is to stand out! Tickets from $55.
12 – 14 July | Play School Live in Concert: Humpty’s Showtime | Albert Hall | 10am, 12pm & 2pm
Humpty is putting on a surprise show with Jemima, Big Ted, Little Ted and more! The concert is presented by two Play School presenters with songs to sing and dance along too and quiet times to watch and listen. This 45 minute show will be a delight to all Play School fans.
12 – 14 July | Lifeline Bookfair | Tuggeranong Southern Cross Stadium | 9am – 6pm
Lifeline Canberra’s Bookfairs raise a major portion of the funding needed to keep the local crisis support service running. You’ll find rows of books, magazines, DVDs, CDs. Entry is by gold coin donation.
13 July | Canberra Fashion Markets | Thoroughbred Park | 10am – 4pm
The markets have new designer fashion as well as second hand, retro and vintage pieces for women, men and children. You’ll also find stalls with homewares, food, wine and accessories, plus live music. Entry is free.
20 July | NRL 2019 – Raiders v Wests Tigers | GIO Canberra Stadium | 5:30pm
Watch the Canberra Raiders take on the Wests Tigers. It’s sure to be a massive clash so bring the family or friends and enjoy some Saturday night football.
20 – 21 July | Wintercon | Dairy Road in Fyshwick | 9am – 6pm
The perfect event for board game and cosplay enthusiasts with tournaments, trade stands, participation games and market stalls selling board games and knick-knacks.
