Australian War Memorial
Every Australian should visit the Australian War Memorial at least once. It is almost impossible not to be moved by this shrine, museum and archive. It commemorates the sacrifice of all those Australians who have died in war.

National Gallery of Australia 
Lose yourself browsing through the extensive artworks that are housed at the National Gallery of Australia. Over 166,000 art works including the world’s largest collection of Indigenous Australian Artwork can be found here.

National Portrait Gallery
The National Portrait Gallery has many works on the people and identities that have helped create our nations history. Be sure to check out the many great exhibitions on display

National Museum of Australia
View the unusually large heart of legendary racehorse Phar Lap as well as an eclectic mix of fascinating Australiana including the Holden Prototype No 1.

Parliament House
See where Australia’s political decisions are debated and decided at Parliament House. If you visit when the House is sitting, be sure to time your visit to take in Question Time, which is at 2pm Monday – Thursday.

A visit to Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre should not be missed. This fun, interactive and educational science centre provides hours of fun for the whole family. Check to see what is on as they regularly change their exhibitions.

Lake Burley Griffin
Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra’s man-made lake is the perfect place for a leisurely stroll. For the more energetic, why not hire a bike, canoe, kayak or paddleboat and explore the west basin at your leisure. Alternatively you can view Canberra from the water by booking one of the many cruises available.

Old Bus Depot Markets
No Sunday morning is complete without a stroll around Canberra’s famous Old Bus Depot Markets in Kingston.
